21st century beach design

The coastline plays a major part in my life. I’m at the beach as often as possible, and it’s on my mind all the time. So it was inevitable that my design practice would be informed by the surf.

The surf industry, unlike most, has held onto the culture of hand processing. While many commercially produced surfboards are now CNC shaped, there is still a large market for custom-made, hand shaped surfboards. Exploring both of these directions has informed me to develop a series of speculative as well as actualised surf products.
